Sermon on the Mount

“Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt 5:48) is Jesus’ standard of living for everyone who wants to submit their lives to His authority. In Matthew chapters 5-7, known as the Sermon on the Mount, our Lord sets out what this means in terms of our everyday life.

As a skilled teacher, he peels away the layers of superficiality and hypocrisy to which we are prone and shows us what true righteousness looks like.

This series examines each element of Jesus’ teaching in turn allowing it to penetrate deeply into our lives. My prayer is that this will produce the “hunger and thirst for righteousness” (Matt 5:6) essential for all those who claim to be His disciples.
